The Challenge
What challenges or problems were you facing before working with us?
As a new non-profit organization, securing sustainable funding has been my greatest challenge. Whilst there are significant enthusiasm and support from volunteers, delivery meaningful community activities require financial resources to cover operational costs, event delivery and future developments.
In addition, as a relatively new organisation in Cornwall, our network and access to established funding streams, partnerships and support structures have been limited.
What prompted you to seek support?
I reocgnised that without additional support and strategic partnerships, our voluntary activities would be difficult to sustain consistently over the long term. To ensure our organsiation’s growth and sustainability, I proactively sought opportunities to connect with organisations and networks whose values align with our mission of promoting community cohesion, cultural awareness and inclusion.
What risks or limitations were you experiencing?
Limited financial resources to sustain and expand activities.
Restricted access to wider networks and partnership opportunities.
Risk of reduced community engagement due to funding constraints.
Challenges in maintaining ling-term consistency and growth of community programmes.
Objectives
• What were you hoping to achieve?
We hope to secure support from established organisations, local authorities/council, and community partners to strengthen and expand our activities for the benefit of the community.
A key ambition is for FCCO to formally establish itself as a Community Interest Company (CIC) or registered charity within next year, creating a sustainable foundation for future growth.
Were there any specific goals, KPIs, or success measures?
Successfully transition FCCO into a formally recognized CIC or charitable organization within the next year.
Increase recognition and visibility of the Filipino community across Cornwall for the next 2 years.
Strengthen community integration by encouraging participation in local events, civic ceremonies and community initiatives for the next 2 years.
Develop stronger partnerships with local organisations and stakeholders within next year.
Create more opportunities for cultural exchange, education and community engagement within 2 years.
Ultimately, we want Filipino people and other minority communities to feel recognized, valued and fully part of the social fabric of Cornwall.

Client Experience
What was it like working with us?
The team has been approachable, supportive and genuinely interested in understanding the needs and aspirations of our organsiation. And we’d like for this to continue going forwards.
What stood out about the process or team?
What stood out most is the genuine commitment to helping community organisations to succeed. I felt that the current support especially during this initial phase felt right, authentic, collaborative and focused on creating meaningful outcomes rather than simply delivering a service.
Testimonial (Optional but highly valuable)
FCCO is still in early stages of this journey, but the support and encouragement received so far have been invaluable. It is reassuring to work with people who genuinely want to help community organisations grow, thrive and make a positive difference in our community.
Future Plans
What’s next for your organisation?
FCCO will continue delivering cultural events and festivals that celebrate Filipino heritage whilst creating opportunities for people or communities from all backgrounds to come together, learn from one another and build a stronger community and connections.
Are you continuing to build on this work?
Absolutely, 100%!
We aim to expand our communication and engagement activities to better support migrants, international professionals and local residents through meaningful cultural exchange and understanding.
FCCO also plans to strengthen its involvement in charity and community-focused activities, working alongside other organsiations to promote unity in diversity whilst celebrating the authenticity of every culture.
Future projects may include multicultural showcases, educational programs, charitable partnerships, and initiatives such as Fabrics around the World and Piyesthan sa Cornwall which highlights the richness of different cultures whilst fostering a stronger sense of belonging for one + all.
